I didn't get the loan. :(
I applied for a measly 5,000 loan through our bank. I knew it would be hard to get it alone (duh, I really don't have an income since this will be the first year I'm filing for the photography business), so I had my dad co-sign on it with me. He has 100% perfect credit, makes really good money, and has so much money in assets it's ridiculous. But for whatever reason, I got denied and it really sucks.
So I don't know what I'm going to do. I was planning on upgrading to a D300, two new awesome lenses (70-200mm and 50mm 1.4 for any photogs), and a SB900 flash. Plus a new plasma screen Mac computer and Lightroom software. I already have close to a thousand saved up, but I was including the 5k in what I needed.
And of course if I wasn't, you know, having a BABY next month, I'd be able to work my butt off and make enough in one month probably to cover almost everything I need. Stupid baby.... ;)
So I'm just annoyed and I don't know what to do. I've contemplated asking my grandparents straight out for a loan, but after the disappointment today, I just don't think I can get my hopes up again, or take the embarrassment of being turned down.
Ugh. It just sucks.
On the bright side, I took my frustrations out on the house and it is spick and span. I literally threw away 5 laundry baskets full of Brynn's crappy toys, old games, and junk. Her room looks awesome. Nicholas' room was much easier, and I vacuumed the entire house, put laundry away, scrubbed the kitchen, and glass cleaned anything that needed it.
So I'm beat. And I'm about to go snuggle with my darling Brynnie who I missed SO much this weekend while she was at her Mamaw's house!

Ugh. That sucks! Sounds like you're starting to nest, though. Baby could be coming any day!
Why not just ask your dad for the loan?
bummer! I want the d700 and both lenses you mentioned...but i still don't even have photoshop....and just my little d40...I'm sure you'll get what you need eventually, pray on it! ;)
This is random: I saw your siggie an i.v. post--the "I'm a vaccinating.." one and thought, huh, this girl sounds JUST like me. Plus my name is also Rachel. Then I clicked on your blog and saw that you're a photographer. So am I. Then I said a quick prayer that we live near each other--I think we'd have fun together. But I'm in Oregon. Anyway, the point is, I'm so glad now that I didn't take out a loan when I first started my business. I'm glad I built it up, putting all money I made back into it and didn't have the stress of a payment. You will get there! It takes time...you don't NEED all that stuff to be a great photographer that people will hire.
Congrats on the newest addition (I just added one in Nov.). Here's to a sleepy, easy-going baby!
